After a bit of a wait as Start worked on other projects, we have another great edition of Luftwaffe im Focus. What makes this a great publication are not only the images they manage to locate, but also the stories that go along with them.
This is very much the case with the tale behind the cover photo. This is the story of Dr. Ernst Kupfer, who, by all accounts, was a superlative human being. His story is told in photos as well as through diary and other entries, making him one of the most effective leaders in the Luftwaffe.
We also get stories regarding KG-40 and their operation of the FW-200. This section is superbly illustrated with a number of full color period photos of the men and planes they flew. There are also sections on unit identification as well as color scheme information for several 109s. An interesting article on the Ar-232 is also included that brings some light to what it was like to operate this aircraft and why so few were built.
As usual, the articles and images cover the full gamut of Luftwaffe types including fighters, bombers, experimental types, and ground attack. Interestingly, the editorial mentions that most readers want to know about the aircraft outside the mainstream of fighters and bombers.
Of course, there is much more, but I will not spoil another fine edition by telling all. You will need to get your own copy and I have to say you will not be disappointed. As always, the large A4 format allow for some superb and large photographs, something I know we all have come to appreciate. Like the earlier LIF books, this one is dual English/German and is not only interesting but informative as well. There is delight in every page, making this book one that you simply have to get.
