| NOTES: |
I always look forward
to the next edition of IPMS Canada's RT and the fall edition managed to make
it through the international mails unscathed. As is the norm, this one is 44 full
color pages and includes six very well done articles, chock full of images and
with a nice write-up.
There are a few changes in this edition over the last. First of all, there is a new format cover with only one image and four of the six articles listed. The other is that only the editorial is provided with the other commentaries gone (perhaps moved to the e-publication, which I am, for some reason, no longer getting). So let us get to what is in this edition.
The opening article is Geoff Heyland's very nicely done Revell 1/144 747 shuttle carrier aircraft and shuttle. Geoff put a lot of effort into this one and the results show it.
Second up is Alex Bernardo's Heller 1/72 Saab J.21. Alex did some conversion work on this to make it into the unbuilt J.21B. Step by step instructions on the conversion with lots of photos.
The most unusual article in this issue is Peter Shanley's Gunze Sangyo Lupin III autogyro. This is a very neat fantasy vehicle that was featured in the anime of the same name. Again, a lot of work went into this with a scratchbuilt interior and other embellishments.
For number four we have the cover build. This is John Lumley's Revell 1/32 Hurricane. As usual with these articles, a fair amount of aftermarket work went into its making.
George Wray's Airfix 1/72 B-17G is article five. George wanted a plane with battle damage and the way he went about doing it is something that I really liked. It is also quite well done.
The trailing article is for ship fans. In this instance it is one that took more work than all the other articles combined. Ian Moore took Revell's 1/350 SMS Emden and converted it to the HMCS Rainbow. You have to see all the work that went into this to fully appreciate the end result.
Another fine edition and one I look forward to every quarter. So, you are wondering, just how do I get this great club magazine. Well, it is simple. Just trade boring money for full color magazines. IPMS Canada is a great group of people so you will be in very good company. Can't get much better than that.
But wait, there is more. If you join, you also get the electronic Beaver Tales delivered straight to your computer.
