NOTES: |
I've been a member of IPMS Canada since volume 27. This is volume 46/3 so that means almost twenty years. I've seen R/T go from strength to strength and it has never failed to provide not only a great read, but also ideas that can be used in my own application of the hobby.
This edition contains six articles, which is about the average and it covers a spectrum of subjects.
For instance, the first article is not the main photo on the cover, but is my favorite of this issue. It is Geoff Heyland's imaginative Zeppelin vs Pterodactyls using the Takom 1/350 P class Zeppelin. Geoff gives a full account of how he did the diorama and I'd like to think it will inspire others.
Next is the first of two separate articles by Martin Bendsoe that deals with some major kitbashing of a pair of Dodge trucks. The first is a D212 and the second is a D15/60 version. Both make use of 3D printing, which seems to be a staple of many modelers who have the time and equipment to produce these parts.
The cover model is next and is a 1/144 Boeing 737-300 from Skyline Models. Massimo Santarossa had to do some extra work on this to get the result he wanted, but it was well worth the effort.
John Lumley's very nicely done post war Canso, built using the 1/48 Revell/Monogram PBY kit is next and results in a very nice model.
Finally, some real space for a bit of a change with Glenn Cauley's Horizon 1/72 Atlas 5A. This model represents a rocket that used to be at the Canada Science and Technology Museum, but had to be scrapped due to corrosion. As the Horizon kit only represents the earlier Atlas versions, Glenn had to do a considerable amount of extra work to complete this project.
Another fine edition and one I look forward to every quarter. So, you are wondering, just how do I get this great club magazine. Well, it is simple. Just trade boring money for full color magazines. IPMS Canada is a great group of people so you will be in very good company. Can't get much better than that.
But wait, there is more. If you join, you also get the electronic Beaver Tales delivered straight to your computer, and you can get the periodic decal sheets that are only provided to members.
