Random Thoughts 44/2

NOTES:

With the start of a new season so comes the latest edition of Random Thoughts. As with all editions, the concentration is on Canadian subjects and this one is no exception with five build articles and one markings article.

The initial offering is Colin Kunkel's CF-5A conversion from the Hasegawa 1/32 F-5E kit. He uses a Belcher bits conversion along with other aftermarket sets to make a very nice model.

Al Magnus builds the somewhat disappointing (his words) RSM 1/72 M274 'Mule'. Al also puts a lot of effort into this fairly small subject and the end result is well worth the effort.

Next we have a 442 Squadron Mustang using the Airfix kit. This is a very nice scheme and one that I see fairly often. Wayne Beattie does nice work on it. Probably just coincidence that it is in issue 44/2.

The fourth build article is Barry Madden's Meng 1/35 Russian Terminator BMPT. This is a fairly complex kit (at least the paint scheme is) and Barry does his usual superlative work on it.

The final build is Steve Sauve's Hasegawa 1/48 Spitfire VIII in a SEAC scheme that is a little bit different.

An additional article is by Steve Sauvé that looks into whether the WWII RCAF overseas nationality marking had a red or a green leaf. An interesting bit of research.

Another fine edition and one I look forward to every quarter. So, you are wondering, just how do I get this great club magazine. Well, it is simple. Just trade uncolorful money for full color magazines. IPMS Canada is a great group of people so you will be in very good company. Can't get much better than that.

But wait, there is more. If you join, you also get the electronic Beaver Tales delivered straight to your computer, and you can get the periodic decal sheets that are only provided to members.
