This is another great title from the RAFIC folks and covers the Spitfire V. In this case, as with all the books in this series, the subject is focused. This edition covers the Bombay Squadrons. It was not unusual during the war for groups to gather funds to help pay for aircraft. Most, if not all nations had these presentation aircraft.

Some donations were so frequent and large that entire units were named after the donor city or group. So it was with the two squadrons in this book. The first was 122 squadron that was formed in 1941. The other was 132 squadron, also formed during 1941.

Both of these units started on earlier versions of the Spitfire and went on with the later variants. Since the book concentrates on the Spitfire V, each section is about a year or so of operations.

In addition to the history of the units themselves during this time, we are provided with a look at the development of the Spit V and a short section on gift squadrons in general. There are the usual tables of losses and victories as well as some great period photos and more than the usual number of superb full color profiles of aircraft used by these squadrons.

Thanks to all the well done research and choice of illustrations, it makes for a superb addition to the series and its reasonable price is one that should appeal to many.
