This is another of the fine special publications from Mr.Black. In this case, it is the second volume that concentrates on WWII. A nice feature of this particular edition, is that it features the work of one modeler, Man Jin Kim of South Korea. This work was originally printed in South Korea, but we now have it available to us with the text completely in English.

There are a number of different articles included, with all of them featuring German figures. I guess you could call this a complete 'how-to' book as it starts with what tools you need to paint figures and how to prep the figure. He then goes into using paints. In this case, the focus is on acrylic paints; both water based and acrylic lacquers. A paint chart of the various manufacturers and shades used to paint the figures is included.

The next section is on painting heads. Included in here are three different examples. It then moves onto doing various types of uniforms. The German Army in WWII went through a bewildering number of uniform changes and it looks like all of those are covered. We then move on to painting accessories, which would be weapons and the different items carried. A nice part is on doing bases for your figure. Often one wants something a bit more than a bare base and this section will help with ground cover and foliage to do a simple, but effective base. The final part of the book showcases many of the figures that Mr. Kim has built.

In all, this makes for a wonderful figure 'how to' book and is one that is highly recommended for those interested in the subject.

Thanks to Mr Black Publications for the review book. You can get this book at this link.
