This is the fourth of SMH's themed figure books and is a compilation of previously published articles that fits into a specific theme. This one is the great war (WWI) and is a subject that is probably more well received by figure modelers than other branches of the hobby.

As a note, the article sequence is not the same as the images on the cover

We start off with a nice 180mm bust of a British Soldier in the Somme during 1916.

#2 is a great article on how to build a German trench in 1/16 scale.

Next is another fine bust, this time is the 'Red Baron'; Manfred von Richtofen

A vignette of ANZACs in Gallipoli in 54mm.

A 90mm full figure of a German stormtrooper follows.

We then turn to an RFC Ace in 54mm that concentrates on face painting.

'The Periscope Rifle' is a1/35 vignette again set in Gallipoli.

Sticking with that campaign is a 54mm Australian infantry figure.

This next stormtrooper figure is a bust in 180mm.

The next vignette is in 54mm and shows a line of gassed soldiers heading for an aid station.

A second work on a WWI trench is next. This time it is in wood and 54mm.

Like WWII SS figures stormtrooper figures are popular and the third one is another bust in 180mm.

Finally, a 54mm Scottish soldier from 1914.

So there you have it. Thirteen very well done articles and the usual superlative photography that one has come to expect from Mr. Black. I am sure you will learn something from this compilation. I always do. Well worth picking up.
