This is the second of SMH's themed figure books and is a compilation of previously published articles that fits into a specific theme. Knights and Crusaders are popular subjects among figure modelers as much for the wealth of detail these kits provide as well as the considerable amount of color. Not only that, but it gives those who are talented a chance to show off their skills in painting horses.  In that vein, there are three of the nine articles that include equines.

We start off with a 54mm Knight of the Holy Sepulchure order astride a horse. This figure has a lot of white in it and makes for an outstanding presentation.

Next is another 54mm figure, this one mostly in black and portraying a Fratres Militatiae from the 13th century in a snow scene.

A 75mm horse-bound figure is a roaming knight of the 15th century. This one features a rearing horse and goodly amount of purple trim.

A Templar Knight in 180mm is the first bust in the book and this fellow has seen some battles.

The final mounted figure is a helmeted crusader, again in 54mm. Like the first figure, this one features a prancing horse.

A 12th century Templar knight is next. This 90mm figure is shown on a set of steps with a shield full of arrows.

Another 90mm figure is a knight Hospitaller from the 13th century. This standing figure is wearing a rounded helmet.

A sculpting article is next showing how to sculpt a 180mm bust of a generic medieval knight.

The final article is another Hospitaller in 90mm, this figure standing in front of a wall.

So there you have it. Ten very well done articles and the usual superlative photography that one has come to expect from Mr. Black. Well worth picking up.
