The next offering in MMP Books' Camera On series is this one on the Henschel Hs-126 observation aircraft. Airplanes don't get much press in this series and this is only the second one I can recall. The editors have made a good choice with this one as there are not a lot of books out there that concentrate on these planes. The Hs-126 was developed as a recon aircraft capable of carrying various cameras and also with the ability to carry a single light/medium size bomb. This is a pre-war design and was exported to countries in eastern and southern Europe.

The beginning of the war showed how vulnerable these planes were to enemy fighters. After some fairly heavy losses, they were limited in use to areas where the Germans had air superiority. These were soon replaced by the more capable FW-189, though the type soldiered on in some areas until the end of the war.

Typical of all of the other books in the series, this is a photo book pure and simple. It provides a page of history that gives you a run-down of the variants and that is about it. Unlike the earlier volume on the MS.406, there are very few wrecked aircraft shown, which is something I appreciate. Most images are of German planes though a few of those in foreign forces are shown. A lot of information is provided through the captions of the many photos in the book. This sort of thing is a boon to modelers and enthusiasts alike. It is a welcome addition to this series. Apparently readers like these books as the titles are continuing into the future. Well worth picking up.
