This is the second volume in MMP Books series on Polish fighter colors from 1939 to 1947. The volume covers the WWII period from after the fall of Poland until post war. All of the aircraft covered during this period are RAF types that were either in Polish squadrons or are planes that were flown at some time or another by Polish pilots. As you might expect, this covers pretty much every fighter flown by the RAF during that period of time. This includes experimental types and 'foreign' aircraft. In addition, there is brief coverage of those units that were part of the Soviet Air Force late in the war.
The main focus is, of course, on those planes operated by Polish squadrons. Hurricanes and early mark Spitfires were covered in Volume 1. This one starts with the Spit IX/XVI, Seafire, Mustang, Typhoon, Tempest and a few other day fighters. It then moves on to night fighters like the Defiant, Havoc, Beaufighter, Mosquito and a few others. The section of Soviet planes covers a variety of Yak and Lavochkin types. As some Polish pilots worked for test units, you will also find American and German fighters in the mix.
Typical of this series, you get not only the unit histories, but a ton of photographs of the various aircraft. This includes full color profiles based on photos in each of the various sections. This makes for a book that is not only highly readable, but also an excellent reference for both the enthusiast and modeler alike. It is a great one to have on your reference shelf and like others in this series, is most highly recommended.
