The next book of Ronny Bar profiles is this one on the Spitfire. The Spitfire was one of only a few aircraft in production from before WWII until the end and saw action in every theater of the war and in the hands of many Allied nations. The type also saw considerable post war use.

This book concentrates on Merlin powered variants and that encompasses a lot of different marks. A rundown of the versions covered are the prototype, Mk.I, Mk.II, Mk.V, Mk.VI, Mk.VII, Mk.VII, Mk.IX and Mk.XVI in terms of standard RAF fighters. Also part of the book are the photo recon versions and the Seafires.

Each page has two large profiles with information provided in a short commentary that includes things like the pilot (if known), unit, and location. A few of the pages also provide full upper and/or lower view if the scheme is particularly interesting. The author was the main illustrator for Wingnut Wings and others so his work may seem familiar.

The book is real eye candy for the WWII enthusiast and an interesting look back. It is a book that no Spitfire fan should be without. I highly recommend it.
