Their latest book from Pen & Sword's series on military vehicles concentrates on one of my favorite German armor pieces, the StuG III. As is the norm in this series, this book covers a specific period of time. In this case it covers SS and Luftwaffe units on the eastern front during 1944.

The StuG III was based on the Panzer III chassis and while designed to be an infantry assault gun, found a lot of use as a tank destroyer. This was particularly true of the ausf G variant with the bigger gun. The book starts with a brief rundown of all the units that operated the type, and there are a considerable number. Then a history of the ausf G itself, covering all the upgrades made during its production run.

A section of the book is dedicated to full color profiles of specific vehicles, often including photographes of the actual subject. Probably the largest portion is a modeling section. This includes a number of builds in both 1/35 and 1/48 scale. A section on kits and aftermarket is also part of this section. It covers mostly what is available at the time of the book's writing.

In all, this series has become a favorite of many modelers and enthusiasts alike. It is well worth picking up if you are an enthusiast of armor or the modeling of it.
