This addition to the Images of War series highlights the war against Italy during WWII. Though the book title states 1941-45 it actually starts at the invasion of Sicily in 1943. Since the war in that theater is a major campaign, it is difficult to provide full coverage in just a couple of hundred pages, especially when most of those pages are photos. However the author does a fine job of providing an introduction to the major stages/battles of the war in Italy.

Italy pretty much played second fiddle to the war in northwest Europe so it was not uncommon for this theater to not get the latest and greatest and frequently offensive operations had to be delayed due to lack of equipment that was used elsewhere. It also didn't help that the Germans put up a masterful defense in a nation where the geography benefitted the defenders.

Each of the 13 different chapters has a brief historical section to set the stage before providing the photos. The photos are the main draw of this series and there are a lot of them in this particular book. Even with the brief section introduction and the fairly large number of photos, it makes one of the larger books in the series in terms of pages.  As with the other editions it is a well done book and will be one that both enthusiasts and modelers alike will enjoy. Worth picking up.
