This is volume 2 of a photo compilation of aircraft captured or destroyed during the first months of the invasion of the Soviet Union. To say that the USSR suffered a nearly debilitating loss of assets during this time would be an understatement. To help use this to bolster the civilian population, the German Army made sure that there were literally thousands of photos of all the carnage.

It is fortunate for us that these photographers were able to take high resolution and crisp images, often times using large format cameras.

The book itself is divided into aircraft types. In no particular order, they are Yak-1, Polikarpov R-5, Polikarpov UT-1, Neman R-10, Polikarpov U-2, Sukhoi Su-2, Ilyushin IL-2, Tupolev SB-2 and derivitives, Tupolev TB-3, Lisunov Li-2, Ilyushin DB-7 and many other types. Some of these have just a couple of images, while others, like the SB-2, have many pages.

Each of the images has information on the subject in question and adds insight into some of the more interesting photographs. This is a popular series from MMP Books and can provide not only a lot of information to the reader, but also inspiration for the modeler. Well worth picking up.
