This is the 13th volume of HMH's Aircraft in Detail series and covers one of my favorite aircraft, the Mirage III/5/50 series of aircraft. The book is a nice size for full page images and it is very image intensive with each section containing the information in photo captions rather than a prolonged historical section.

While it does cover most of the Mirage III/5/50 family, it has nothing on the C and the vast majority of images are of the Mirage III and 5. The authors have most of the photos from the aircraft of three nations; Switzerland, Argentina, and Belgium. These nations are more open to military aircraft photographers so it is natural that we'd see most of the detail stuff from there. Not to say that other nations are ignored, as there are a fair number of images of Pakistani planes, but other nations are only given a small number of images.

These are as much close-up books as they are pure eye candy. Sections include the Fuselage, Cockpit, Wings, Front and Main Landing Gear, Maintenance, Engine, and an In Action section of photos. The final part of the book is on the Mirage 5/50 series.

All of the photos are superb and provide the sort of detail that modelers love. It all makes for a superb book not just for those who like great photos, but those who are interested in more of the detail stuff. It is a book that I can quite easily recommend to fans of the type and modelers alike.

es together. It has a lot of repeat watching value, something that I know is important when learning.  I'm positive you will pick up on something, regardless of how experienced you are.
