India and Pakistan have been at odds ever since the British left India and the nation was partitioned. Over the decades there have been several wars and a fairly large number of other, shorter conflicts. Many of them took place in northern India and northern Pakistan over Kashmir.

Last year, was another of these short conflicts. This time is was based on India's military response on terrorist camps in northeastern Pakistan. The reason for this was basically due to terrorist attacks within India. In the past, retribution would have been quite measured, but India has had enough and attacked all of the known terrorist camps. This was basically an air power response and it was quite successful.

However, it caught Pakistan unawares. Pakistan then decided to stop additional Indian raids before they entered Pakistan air space and so started this short, 88 hour conflict.

As with previous editions, the ability to obtain information is somewhat sketchy from both sides. Neither really provided specifics on their actions so much of the book relies on open sources. Since this is basically written by Indian authors, one really gets feeling that the Pakistanis were the bad guys. It is hard to stay neutral when writing about current events and that is quite obvious as one reads through the book. Thankfully, there are lots of photos and maps along with the usual full color profiles making it quite easy to follow along with the prose, something that can often be difficult.

In all, it is a good read on recent events and one I think you will like.
