A fairly popular series of books is After the Battle. These look at various military events using photos of the battlefield during the conflict and what they look like today. In some cases, very little is left that is recognizable from those wartime days. In others areas are fairly unchanged other than what naturally occurs over time. Sometimes it results in the recovery of relics that have been long buried

This particular book is a compilation that consists of ten major sections, most with multiple subsections. For instance, under the D-Day section is the recovery of the Churchill tank you see on the cover. Then there is a look at the area that saw Michael Wittmann's last battle. Another has a look at Iwo Jima. One of the most well known is the story of the B-24 'Lady Be Good'. Of particular interest to me is the story of the 'Man who Never Was'. Other articles cover the first shots of WWII and the final surrenders.

In all, it makes for a fascinating read, providing a goodly number of before and after looks at some of the more important events of WWII. I am sure that you will like it as much as did I. Highly recommended.
