Stardust Colors
A couple of weeks back I got a nice package in the mail from Stardust Paints of France. In it were over a dozen different shades, each in a large 60ml squeeze bottle. I really like this type of bottle as it allows easy dispensing of the paint.
Stardust offers a variety of paint types, but due to restrictions, were only able to send their acrylics, which is fine as these are more appropriate for most of the applications that we modelers prefer. Now Stardust does far more than just one type of paint and offers sizes from the smaller bottles sent to me to large tins enough to paint a real car.
These particular paints are from their Hikari RC line and are designed for Lexan RC bodies. However, these paints work on more than clear plastic. I have brush painted some of their more common shades on plastic where it works well. Shown above is a clear slot car body painted on the inside with shades not shown in the opening image. The metallic orange would benefit from a solid backing color like white or silver. The turquoise is very opaque. I did thin the metallic orange a bit, but the turquoise was sprayed right from the bottle with no thinning.
I was curious to see how this paint would stick to plastic. So using a spare wing from an Eduard FW-190, I sprayed on one coat of the turquoise. Again, this was not thinned at all. It went on quite smooth and was dry enough to touch within an hour. I would, however, give it at least a day to fully cure. I was also interested in seeing how well the paint would stick to unprimered plastic. I burnished on a piece of Tamiya tape. The tape came free without pulling the paint. I next tried a piece of Scotch tape. Same result. I finally tried a piece of reinforced strapping tape and it also came free without removing any paint. That is very impressive for a water based acrylic paint as I've had Tamiya and Mr.Color acrylic paints pull up with the latter two tape types.
Bottom Line is that this is excellent paint and one that I can highly recommend to you based on my own experience and testing.
I am not sure if anyone in the US yet carries this brand, but you can visit their web site at https://www.stardustcolors.co.uk/135-airbrush-paints for more information. If you get a chance to try it, I know that you will be pleased with the results.

My thank you to Stardust Colors for the review samples.
