Some of you
may know Darren Roberts. The man is a Tomcat-a-holic if there ever was one.
He is also a man on a mission and one of the things he has come up with is
something so simple you are amazed that no one has thought of it before.
You see, every model of the F-14 is notorious for having intakes that are
near impossible to clean up and fill in all the seams. There are hard
plastic or resin intake covers, but most Tomcat squadrons don't (didn't)
use them. They use canvas or vinyl covers.
Darren has
designed a set of self sticking intake covers in Red, Blue, Black and
Yellow. They are designed to fit the 1/48 Revell and Hasegawa kits, though
I'd bet they'd also fit the Academy version. Application is easy as you
please and full instructions are provided. I have seen these applied to a
Tomcat at the most recent IPMS Great Plains Regional and can tell you that
they look very impressive.
They are made from a very flexible vinyl material and Darren has plans for producing them in both 1/72 and 1/32 scale.
Thanks to Darren Roberts for the review sample. See the - link on the main page to order yours.
