An item that has become quite useful to many of us are camouflage masks. This is something that is especially true for some of the more complex 'splinter' schemes used by Luftwaffe aircraft. I have used masks like this in the past and they really are a time saver. With care, they can also be reused a second time.
This set is for the 1/48 Bf-109 in the later RLM 71/02/65 scheme. There were two similar schemes using these colors on the E and this is one of them. While the angle of the spine colors has simply been shifted, those of the wings and tailplanes is quite different. If you check the other review from a few days back, you'll see this. The builder first paints the RLM 65, masks that off and then applies the RLM 02. This is the color that the masks cover so you can do the RLM 71. I've always found greens to be somewhat difficult to paint and get a consistent finish when doing the color in small sections as you would when freehanding the scheme so this works out well.
The instructions provide a guide for the masks. I've shown just the top side, but there is also a guide for the fuselage sides.
