NOTES: | Eight shades |
One thing that modelers are not lacking is a choice of hobby paints. In recent years, those which are offered in 17ml 'eyedropper' bottles have become very popular in Europe and various bottle designs are used by major manufacturers. I personally like them as it makes getting the paint out of the bottles a lot easier than digging out of tinlets or having to pour from a glass jar.
Hataka is a line out of Poland and while they do water based acrylics, I prefer lacquers when it comes to painting. Lacquers do require additional precautions, but the improved quality of the paint along with the greater adhesion makes these types of paint worth it. I also find that lacquers provide a smoother finish. I've used these paints and really like them. So when I saw this set at a decent price, I went for it.
This particular set covers what are mid-war shades. The shades included are RLM 74, 75, 76, 65, 02, 70, 22 (black) and 77 (light grey). To me it is a bit odd that RLM 65 is included as it is usually partnered with RLM 70/71. Having RLM 70 is appropriate as that is the standard color for propellers.
I've grown quite fond of these paints and I think that if you get the chance to use them, you will like them too.
