HISTORY

Polikarpov I 16 is a russian fighter, first flowen in 1933. It was in used in anger in the civil war in Spain and at the first years of WW2.

The model at a scale of 1:33, is from a Polish company Fly Model. Most of the model is built "as is", with scratch building of the main gear, engine cylinders, engine cowling, and propeller.
The engine cowling was built as is, filed to the round shape with Humbrol model filler, and smoothed with glass paper.
The weels where made of card rings with diferent diameters to symulate the general geometry, bonded together and then filled and smoothed.

In my openion this company models are good and acurate, with fair amount of detailing. The instructions are in Polish, but the drawings are good and detailed.

The model aircraft served in 1941 in the russian center section, and the slogan is "For Stalin !" , what ever it is .....
