NOTES: |
Profipack version |
Eduard has expanded business from the production of brass detail sets to entire
kits over the last years. Recent examples as already reviewed in this webzine
were the He 280 and the X-1. The newest method is producing a kit and selling it
in two variants, once as a pure styrene kit and the other, called a Profi Pack,
with all those "aftermarket" additions youŽd normally purchase extra.
Also available is amongst others a very beautiful P-40 and a Hawker Tempest.
Having started modelling afresh with allied planes and having widened the scope
to Japanese and more and more German planes, a Russian fighter means a nice
change for me. Especially the Yak is (speaking strictly in a subjective way) a
beautiful and elegant machine, and the Russians had some nice and colourful
markings and camo schemes on their planes.
Peeking into the box shows 2 sprues with 53 finely detailed styrene parts
(moderately recessed panel lines) first. Moreover, the box contains weighted
resin wheels, 34 useful photoetched parts, a little slide for the instruments as
is Eduard custom, very clean clear parts for an opened and a closed canopy,
precut masks for the canopy (to be used in conjunction with Maskol or the like),
a so-called miniguide, a sheet with 5 color pics of an actual Yak showing
several useful details (you might also call it a mini-walkaround) plus last but
not least excellently printed decals for 4 a/c with remarkable schemes.
The instructions are very clear, styled in the Japanese fashion as used from
Tamiya, Hasegawa and Dragon. Included is a color reference to Revell, Humbrol,
Tamiya, Testors and Aeromaster.
All in all, IŽm really looking forward to build this kit. All the contents seem
to be of high quality, and one should be able to produce a beautiful model from
them. In the terms of value for money (I bought it for 37,90 DM which should
equal something about 20$) the term "outstanding" should be
appropriate.
