NOTES: |
THE KIT |
This Heller kit is typical of the marque, raised panel lines and not overly detailed in cockpit or undercarriage. However, until the recent Academy release, this was probably the best available.
CONSTRUCTION |
This kit was enhanced with an Airwaves resin wheel set, much more detailed than the kit items, but the kit nosewheel was molded integral with the strut and removing said wheel to make way for the resin replacement was a real bugger. That said, the end result was worth it. The only other alteration was the replacement of the pitot probe with some steel wire.
PAINT & DECALS |
The kit was hand brushed with Aeromaster enamels (faded olive drab/neutral grey), given a thin coat of Future and a set of Propagteam decals were used instead of those supplied with the kit. The nose art is a tad risque, but hey I like it! The Propagteam decals went on extremely well and to finish it off a mix of Future and Tamiya flat base was applied by brush. The finish is not dead flat, but semi-gloss.
