| NOTES: |

For an ongoing diorama project, I wanted something more “rustic” than Tamiya’s 1/35 brick set. Those bricks need modifying for building ruins, since brick walls rarely fall leaving clean breaks along a straight line of mortar or in a perfect zig-zag. To get the look I want, I’ve been using my Dremel to remove corners and rough-up the finish for a wrecked building and debris.
I was at my LHS when I spotted this set, and it offers small assemblies of bricks for more variation. It features eight shapes, each with a smooth and rough side, including several individual bricks. Mortar lines are clean, unlike my 1/1 scale masonry. A modeler can rough things up to fit the diorama. I’ve seen Hero Hobby’s sets online for less than I paid, but you’d have to figure in shipping.
Be advised that these bricks look slightly smaller than Tamiya’s and are molded in a panzer-yellow color. I plan to paint these and the Tamiya bricks alike, with the Hero Hobby masonry scattered on the ground as rubble. I then won’t need to worry about them being glued to their slightly larger neighbors.
There. I reviewed bricks.
Highly recommended for you 1/35 diorama builders.
