This sheet includes markings for two B-17s.
“Our Gal Sal”, a B-17G-30-BO from the 351st Bomb Squadron, 100th Bomb Group, is a very famous B-17, being the “Queen of the Bloody Hundredth,” with 135 combat missions flown by 27 different crews between her first mission on February 3, 1944, and the end of the war. The decal sheet depicts her at the time of her 60th mission in the summer of 1944, and there is very detailed historical research material regarding the overall look of the airplane provided in the notes.
“Double Trouble”, A B-17F-25-DL of the 33rd Bomb Squadron, 94th Bomb Group, when based at Bury St. Edmunds in October, 1943. The airplane was lost in combat on October 4, 1943 over France.
The decal sheet includes the individual markings for each aircraft. The appropriate national insignia for “Our Gal Sal” would come from “National Insignia Part 3 or 4,” CED 48-262/263, while that for “Double Trouble” would come from “National Insignia Part 2,” CED 48-261.
The modeler should very definitely read the instructions that are included regarding how to apply the PYN-up decals, since their production makes them very different from the standard decals everyone is familiar with. Cutting Edge strongly recommends that no decal solvent other than Micro-Sol or Micro-Set be used on these decals.
Only 300 copies of this decal sheet will be produced.
