This sheet provides markings for two B-17s,

“Mount ‘n’ Ride”, a B-17G-20-BO of the 323rd Bomb Squadron of the 91st Bomb Group.  The original nose art was painted by S/SGT Tony Starcer, the 91st Group artist.  The aircraft was lost on its sixth mission, when it was damaged in combat and landed at Dubendorf, Switzerland, to be interned for the rest of the war, returning to England in October 1945 to be scrapped.

“Cincinnati Queen”, a B-17F-115-BO from the 569th Bomb Squadron, 390th Bomb Group, based at Framingham England in early 1944.  This was one of the original aircraft of the group, and served until it was shot down on June 21, 1944; at the time a different crew had named it “Blues in the Night.”

In addition to the nose art, the decal sheet provides the individual serial numbers and identification markings for each airplane.  National insignia appropriate to these airplanes would be found on the Cutting Edge B-17 insignia sheet “National Insignia Part 3 & 4 CED48262 or 48-263

The nose art for both these aircraft is really beautiful.  The modeler should very definitely read the instructions that are included regarding how to apply the PYN-up decals, since their production makes them very different from the standard decals everyone is familiar with.  Cutting Edge strongly recommends that no decal solvent other than Micro-Sol or Micro-Set be used on these decals.

Only 300 copies of this decal sheet will be produced.
