This small
decal sheet made in Britain offers the unique markings for 7 Northrop P-61 A/Bs
flown in World War II in both the European and Pacific Theaters of Operation.
Each operation features a typically attractive female for nose art. Standard
markings such as walkways, national insignia and more will need to come from
kit-supplied decals, spares, or other aftermarket sheets in order to complete an
entire aircraft. As with other P-61 sheets, modelers will need to note what
options their model has (dorsal turret, which kind of nose is used) to get an
accurate representation of the real plane they are building since some of these
P-61Bs have dorsal turrets and some do not.
The sheet offers 7 options; 2 P-61Bs from the 548th Night Fighter Squadron based at Iwo Jima, 3 P-61As/Bs from the 6th NFS from Saipan, 1 P-61B from the Austria-based 416th NFS, and 1 P-61B of the 422nd NFS based in FranceColors for earlier aircraft are described as olive drab and mid-gray, while later examples from 1945 are largely all painted in gloss black to obscure their operations at night.
