The magazine under review is M Hobby No 6 -2000 published by Ex print Publications, PO Box 26, Moscow, 121552 Russia. It is published on high quality A4 paper in portrait style and in Russian only and has no English text at all in its 50 pages. The Editor Alexander Egorov sent my copy to me many thanks to him for this.

It is split into the usual sections of:

• New kits and releases, which are mainly all Aircraft and in 1/72 scale. The only Armour is the new Skiff kit in 1/35 of the MT-LB.
• An article on the Spanish Ghost Squadron with the He 111B-2 make is Toko.
• An article on how to make moulds for your own figures and cast them.
• An article on the FW 190V 18 in 1/32 scale with a full set of plans in 1/72 scale, including sectional diagrams and full details of the cockpit layout spread out over 3 pages.
• How to make your own towropes and chain links in the scale of your choosing.
• An other BT 7 tank article with scale plans in 1/35.
• An article on a Russian 4 engined Bomber Pe 8 No 4214.
• Full colour photomontages of the MIG 31 walk around including the cockpit and weapons stations etc.
• Photomontages of modellers work at a Russian model show 2000.
• Lastly what I think is a scratch build of a Russian Helicopter Me-1M. I can only judge this by the colour photographs, so any errors are mine alone.

The real strength of this magazine like all Russian publications is in the quality of the photographs and plans or drawings. The amount of information that is now becoming available is truly staggering. Each new edition opens up new avenues of research into areas that in the past have only had the surface scratched by the so-called experts in the west.

My thanks go out to Alexander for providing the original research material and so helping to improving my models. In the past they have helped in my research into GAZ and Zil Trucks and Russian tanks. I am building up a very good reference section on the early Russian Tanks due to this publication.

Personally I look forward to each new edition with anticipation for what I am going to learn or re evaluate. As time goes by the old preconceived ideas about Russian military vehicles and aircraft are going to have to be torn up and completely rewritten.

I recommend this series of magazines for all modellers of Russian Military Equipment. Each one will help you to understand the Russian way with Military Equipment and at the same time build better models based on first hand original research material.
