I mentioned in the last installment that I'd been working on filling in all the additional space I created. Things do more somewhat slowly and while I've appreciated the comments on adding mountains and such, that will have to be something to consider much later. Truthfully, these trains do not handle steep inclines very well and about a degree or two is about it. Not really all that much room on the table for anything like that.
What I have done, is to pick up some cheap pine trees (in this case a bag of 'used' Roco trees) to help add some scenery. I also ordered in some more buildings that includes a sake brewery, another rural station, and a few other buildings for both the 'town' and the 'country' sections.
Another addition has been to make a few 'alternate' routes to a couple of the lines. These are nothing big as I cannot have tracks crossing each other, but at least they can take slightly different routes and it does make things look busy. Before adding on the extra board, I purged all my concrete tie track, but have had to use it when developing the newer extension. Eventually things will be more uniform.
Adding to the trains, and in particular the modern ones is an E233-6000 operating on the Yokohama Line. These are all eight car trains and have been operating since late 2014. Like the other lines operating E233 series EMUs, these replaced older models such as the 205 series. Most of the E233 series run LED lighting systems, now that these lights are coming down in price and seeing greater use compared to what is now the 'old' CFLs.
Other trains added are a nice 255 Series limited express. This is called the Boso Express as it is frequently used to take travelers down the Boso Peninsula, which is just east of Tokyo. In several cases, it has replaced the older 183/189 series express trains.
This limited express is a 189 series train produced by Tomix. Though somewhat outdated, these trains are still being used as the need arises. This is the 'Ayano' used on either the Nikko or the Kinugawa express services.
