HASEGAWA 1/48 KIT LISTS – GERMAN AND ITALIAN WW II AIRCRAFT PAGES

Last update: 26 April 2007 (New information is in Bold typeface)

4 Older Kits Needed: 51024, 51032, 63549, GA10 parts.

5 Newer & Future Kits Needed: 09704, 09730, 09746, 09754, 09755.

Hi, I’m Tony Hodun, and this is one of five tables of Hasegawa 1/48 kit listings I’ve developed to aid you as a modeler or collector in finding the right kit to build the version you want, to fill the gaps in your collection, or to find the parts you need.  This page covers German and Italian WW II Aircraft.  See the U.S./British WW II Aircraft Page for a more complete explanation of these tables. If you’ve got useful input, please contact me directly at hodunmisinec@cinci.rr.com , I’ll reply as soon as I am able.  Enjoy, and happy modeling/collecting!

Hasegawa covers a growing number of German WW II aircraft types in 1/48, and they typically do a full series of variants.  The Bf109s are as complete a group of versions as one can find, the Ju87 series covers almost every version, and the other kit series’ are quite thorough. All are modern sets of tooling with engraved panel lines and nice detail; even the four early tooled Bf109Es are good builders.

My thanks to Jim Bonanni, Thomas Brown, Mike Franklin, Fred Hocker, Rick Kern, Greg Lamb, Klaus Meyer, Rafael Rodriguez, Frank Tauss, Mike Vorrasi, and Woody Yeung for their input!

Parts Tree Labeling Notes:

A – Hasegawa uses capital letter to designate each different tree, always molded on a tab on the tree and noted on the instructions, except for a few of the earliest kits.

b – Hasegawa uses a subletter to designate similar trees that can be produced in two or more variations using inserts (e.g. the Bf109G/Ks are unique, each fuselage half has a subletter tab). The subletter is always molded on a tab on the tree, but may or may not be noted in the instructions.

A* - occasionally Hasegawa reuses a letter for two or more different parts trees in the same kit family, or modifies a parts tree without using a subletter.  The star (*) is my own way of noting differences between these trees (e.g, the short span and long span Ju87 wings).  The star is never found on the parts tree or instruction sheet!

Original tooling, replaced by improved tooling which changed shapes of cowl and other areas, these early kits still look very much like 109s, have nice engraved panel lines, include bomb, rack, and belly tank, and go together well.  J001/09001 has E-3 canopy only, J002/09002 has E-4/7 canopy only, J003/09003 is same as J002/09002 but includes a Trop filter (no standard intake), and J004/09004 does E-3 or E-4/7 with both canopies included plus Galland’s telescopic gunsight and windscreen to fit it (but no Trop filter).

Improved tooling, mainly in shape of nose, all kits include centerline rack and 250kg bomb.

Bf-109E-3:  09108, 09164, 09269, 09601, and 09624 build E-3 only.  09369 and 09482 are similar but includes resin plugs to allow modeler to sand off wing cannon bulges to build the E-1.

Bf-109E-4/7:  09109, 09261, 09563, and 09671 build E-4/7 only.  09326 is similar but includes resin wing and intake parts to build the T version.  09110 and similar 09643 are the only E-4/7 kits that includes a Trop filter!  RG 4572 is almost identical to 09110, has the Trop filter but lacks the photoetched grilles and headrest armor.

Bf-109E-3/4/7:  09111, 9172 and 09183 will do both an E-3 or E-4/7 (but have no Trop filter).  09733 adds a resin antenna housing to also build a night fighter version.

NEED INFO: 09746, 51024 which includes KMC resin engine and details.
