Those of you who have looked at the new Hasegawa Spitfire have realized that you are pretty well stuck with only being able to do on specific type of Mk.IX. There are almost as many minor variations in the Spitfire IX as there are in the Bf-109G series. One of those differences is in the carb intake. The later versions were longer and had a filter installed so that when operating in dusty conditions, damage wasn't done to the engine from dirt.

Ultracast has provided two different undercowl pieces for the Hase kit. These have the carb intakes molded as part of the cowl so that is another seam that you don't have to mess with. The early style is #48087 and is shown on the left. To the right is #48088, the later version. Cost of either one is $4.95 US/$5.95 CDN plus shipping. They are direct replacements for the kit bits so installation is a breeze.
