For the last of
this round of Pavla goodies, we have this fine engine and cowling set for the
Hasegawa or Academy 1/72 F6F-5 Hellcat. The set consists of a new cowling with
cowl flaps in the open position. A two piece engine is also provided as one can
clearly see into it with the cowl flaps open. What isn't given are exhaust so it
is up to the builder to supply those. Thin solder should do quite nicely in this
regard as it is easy to glue and even easier to bend. As you can see, one will
have to be careful removing the sprue stub from the front and my sample has a
pin hole right in the middle of the lower cowling. Repair of these things is
generally done with superglue and careful sanding.
Another fine set from Pavla and one that will come in quite
handy for Future projects.
