Red Box 1/72 French Sailors (Boxer Rebellion)
I'm always surprised as what gets produced in terms of figures nowadays. With the growing popularity of war-gaming, it seems like there is a need for period figures from all sorts of different times. This particular set is for the Boxer Rebellion in 1900 and contains figures for French Sailors. Red Box is a new company to me and are from Ukraine, which seems to be one of the places in the world that are doing well when it comes to producing items for the hobbyist.
This particular set includes 48 figures molded in the usual somewhat flexible plastic that is the staple for these types of war-gaming figures. There are four identical sprues, each containing a dozen different poses. The molding on the figures is very good and the mold seams are minimal at best. There is flash on the bases towards the main sprue, but you'll be cutting this area away anyhow so it is not going to be a problem.
Typical of many figure sets like this, there are no detailed painting instructions, nor any paint references. The box art image is the most reliable guide. The Red Box line of Boxer Rebellion sets is rather extensive. If this is an area of interest to you, then you should seriously consider this source.
