NOTES: | resin and decals. Limited to 300 sets |
Werner's Wings latest resin conversion set is to provide builders with the ability to take the current Eduard Bf-109E-1 or E-3 kit and convert it into an early DB powered prototype, the air racing Bf-109v13. This one is very similar to the 109v14 set and includes all the nose and wing bits you'll need to do the conversion. Werner's Wings 1/48 conversion set sold out very quickly as 109 fans really like to do the prototypes.
The resin parts are superbly cast and without any molding glitches. They include a new upper cowling, new exhaust, new oil and coolant radiators along with the various bits needed for those. New gear doors as well as a new control stick and two different spinners are also part and parcel of the conversion.
A complete set of instructions is provided that tell not only what has to be cut and/or replaced, but also what military equipment you will need to leave off. The kit comes complete with a set of Microscale decals and information on painting. It is recommended that the airframe be puttied smooth as apparently the real aircraft was thus treated.
It is also suggested that the light grey RLM 63 by Model Master be chosen to paint this one as it is not a dark grey. In fact, if you can find a Lufthansa Pearl Grey paint from that time frame, that may well be what the aircraft was painted.
