Those B-29s that were developed to carry the atomic bombs were specially made planes under the Silverplate program. These aircraft were lightened and had all their armament removed save the rear gun position. This was as much due to the weight of the early bombs as anything else. Several dozen aircraft were built and were America's atomic deterrent for many years after the war.
Previously, a set was available to do a Silverplate B-29, but those required removing large sections of the fuselage to install the modified sections. Terry Dean has developed this set to do what most of us would think was the logical way of providing that conversion and using plugs for the holes where the turrets and sighting blisters were located.
In this set you have plugs for the two upper turrets and upper sighting blister shown on the upper row, while the lower turret plugs and the side sighting blisters are shown on the second row.
One simply installs these plugs from the inside prior to assembling the fuselage. Simple, yes? The casting is quite good and is something you should consider when doing your big scale Silverplate B-29.
These are, of course, for the Revell-Monogram 1/48 kit.
