Despite comments on the difficulty in building the kit, the Hasegawa F-14 Tomcat is still the king of the hill in 1/48 scale for this aircraft. It makes into a very large model and so it is nice that Scale Aircraft Conversions has done a set of metal landing gear for it. Each of the gear legs is a two piece affair. The nose gear offers both standard and 'nose down' options. I found that the hole in the upper nose gear leg on my sample was nearly filled so that will have to be drilled out.  These are direct replacements for the kit parts.

The gear is quite sturdy and all one needs to do is clean up the mold seams, paint things and install them. As you can see from the image, the casting is first rate. Don't sweat getting thinner bits that might get a bit bent in shipping. By slowly working them back into position, they are as good as new. It is one of the realities of cast white metal that we all come across.
