One of the biggest drawbacks of the large Trumpeter F-105D/G kits is that they stand on very stalky landing gear. This makes the model wobble quite a bit when it is done and often results in broken main gear legs due to the weight. It is a problem with injected plastic as it just isn't as stiff as the real thing.

What the kit needs are metal landing gear legs and Scale Aircraft Conversions has produced an excellent set in cast metal that are perfect for this kit. Not only are they superbly done, but SAC has gone the extra step to shorten them to a more normal length. The kit gear are shown nearly fully extended, a problem that one runs into all the time. All one has to do to make these ready to use is to sand off the light casting seam and paint as needed.
