NOTES: Resin

As you know by now, Master Details from the USA has garnered a deserved reputation for producing quality resin products. Of particular note have been their various 1/32 scale pilot figures. With the preponderance of 1/32 products on the market, this is something quite well received.

This latest figure comes on the heels of the new Czech Model 1/32 F-80C Shooting Star and is appropriate for the Kinetic and Hasegawa Sabres as well.

The detail work on the figures is superb as one has come to expect. I should point out a couple of small things I don't recall seeing before. One is that there are now small pour stubs on the upper socket area of the arms and legs that will need to be removed before assembly. A second is that there was a slight mold misalignment on one side of the torso and one upper leg. The leg mismatch is easy to clean up while the torso one is more complex but will have most of it hidden by the arms and airframe. I only mention these as I've not seen these in MD figures before and it is certainly not endemic of the lot. I've been told that the switch to a new, more malleable grey resin as requested by many purchasers is the reason for the differences.

One of the great things about Master Details pilots is the options one is given. In this case, there are four heads to choose from, each with a slightly different goggle/O2 mask arrangement. For those not having the mask in place, a separate mask and line are provided to hang down on the vest. In addition, there are a two optional arms that can be used to provide a number of different poses while sitting in the cockpit. The set includes full instructions as well as a set of decals for the helmet.

So we now have an excellent figure for our big jets. I know there will be more in the future and perhaps they will venture into WWI some time in the future for our SPADs and Fokkers.
