Returning to 1/48, this particular sheet provides a goodly choice of fuselage bands, wing chevrons and more for the Grumman F3F-1/2/3. There are a number of kits out there for these planes from Accurate Miniatures, Aeroclub (this one is tough to find), and Monogram.

These are provided in each of the six section colors and of course, the modeler will need to paint the forward cowling and the tail section as required. In addition, the sheet provides prop warning stripes, fine black and white bands for the cowling and unit badges for the units shown in the top image.

Of course, Yellow Wings would not leave you in the lurch without providing some examples and four of them are provided with this set.

First one is from VMF-1 at Quantico in 1937-38 while flying the F3F-2. This one will use the red, white and blue rudder stripes.

We can't leave out VMF-2 based at San Diego in the same time period. For codes and insignia, you'll have to use either kit markings or one of Yellow Wings other sheets. Fortunately, if you do a lot of these sorts of planes, you'll find these sheets used over and over again.

Moving to the Navy, VF-5B aboard the USS Ranger in 1936-37 with their F3F-1 is the next option. These planes will have Willow Green Tail sections.

Finally, with VF-6B aboard the USS Saratoga during the same time as above is another F3F-1. This time, an Insignia White tail section to contrast with the rest of the color.

The instructions are first rate and give a step by step application sequence in case you are new to aftermarket sheets. The sheet indicates that the colors are matched to ModelMaster enamels and gives the pertinent information so that one has no problems when it comes to painting the tail surfaces and cowlings. As the main instruction sheet is used with all their decals, you'll find a few items discussed that are not germane to this particular set.

Overall an excellent set of decals with superb instructions. If your local shop doesn't carry them, ask them to start!
