Here is the second full sheet from MAW decals and it covers two aircraft from VMFA-251 'Thunderbolts' during their July 2001 cruise aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt as part of CVW-1. Both aircraft are in the standard TPS colors of FS 36375 over 36320. These colors can fade to about the same as the underside shade.  Both aircraft also had false canopies on the underside. MAW provides stencils for these and explicit instructions on how to use these. Apparently they also had SJU-17 seats, the 5 blade IFF antennas on the nose and internal tail stiffeners, so you'll probably need an update set to incorporate those mods.

The sheet includes the colorful CAG bird and a more standard line aircraft. Neither one seems to have had LEREX walkways. It also seems that the CAG bird flew before the paint was dry on the insignia and one is provided in a slightly 'smeared' condition. One thing I have noticed is that on Hornets, the insignia is more elongated than what I was used to seeing when I was in the service.

The instructions are well done and include a load-out chart. The inside of the hard paper covers includes a number of detail photos for you to use when doing your aircraft. Insignia and data are included for both as well as a sheet of 'slime lights'.

Overall a fine sheet and my thanks to MAW Decals for the review sample. You can get yours direct from the link above. Free shipping in US. International orders e-mail them at mawdecals@vfdecals.com for rates.
