Not often that a 1/72 decal sheet gets upsized to 1/48 as it is usually the other way around. But this time, sheet 72-738/803 has had that done. And a good choice it is, too. This sheet has four Birdcage Corsairs of Guadalcanal-based VMF-213. All are in the blue-grey over light grey scheme that was in vogue before the tri-color scheme came into being. The best kit is the Tamiya Birdcage Corsair, which makes into a wonderful model.
To keep things simple, here is what is provided: #11 is called 'Defab', #10 is 'Gus's Gopher' and has 8 kills. It was flown by Lt. Wilbur Thomas. #20 is 'Eagle', and #8 is 'Dangerous Dan'/'Eight Ball'.
The sheet provided enough insignia to do two of the aircraft and there is a complete data placement guide, though I doubt if these planes had them all applied.
