Here is a
really great sheet for those who want to do an all-silver F-105D. This is
of a 563rd TFS bird from early in the Vietnam war. Now this isn't a bare
metal one, but one that is painted with silver lacquer. It also needs some
work to be done to it. The Monogram kit is a late F-105D so has all the
various modifications and structural rework done to it over its life span.
This aircraft has none of those mods so must be prepared. Biggies are the
removal of the dorsal spine, the enlargement of the rear intake, removal of
afterburner scoops, removal of large reinforcements on the fuselage and
wings and the filling in of the gun gas vents amongst the major items the
have to be reworked. Allow me to toot my own horn in this regard and point
you to a similar mod I did with a 1/72
F-105D back about a year or so ago.
The sheet has all you need to make a great model including a healthy number of stencils and something I didn't have when I did my model, a useable stencil application guide! The sheet is fitted to the only kit done in 1/48, the Revell/Monogram version. All in all a nice sheet and one that I hope folks will use!
