Throughout most of the late 1950s and early 1960s the F-102 was one of the primary interceptors available to the USAF. Their sole purpose was to shoot down enemy (i.e. Soviet) bombers. They were designed to be fast and to be able to get close enough to use their missiles. The two main missiles for the 102 were the Falcon and the Genie. The Falcon was a homing missile, whereas the Genie was more of a rocket. The Genie was generally nuclear armed and its purpose was to get in the middle of the bomber stream and then explode. It was hoped that the force of the explosion would be sufficient to knock down a lot of the incoming planes. Crude, to say the least, but typical of the air to air weapons of the time. Thankfully, the Genie was never used as it would have spread radiation all over the place.

This sheet contains the markings for one F-102A. That being a 431st FIS aircraft from Zaragosa Spain in 1961. During these years, the USAF had FIS squadrons all over the world and it was hoped that they would be able to take out any planes headed for US bases in Spain or Morocco. The sheet itself is quite colorful and offers the full range of data markings as well. A great sheet for the recent reissue of the F-102.
