Notes:

What is now a common sight in terms of Naval fighters, it wasn't that long ago when the F-18 was an unusual sight. Now the aircraft is all over the place. When the F-14 leaves USN service in the next few years, the Hornet will be the ONLY tactical carrier-borne fighter/attack aircraft in the Navy. Such is the modern world of ever increasing costs and the need for one aircraft type to be able to do everything. Many of us can remember when a carrier had a multitude of different tactical aircraft types aboard. Ah well.

This sheet has markings for two aircraft, both in the TPS scheme for F-18Cs. There are enough decals to do one full aircraft, though the other scheme could be done using aftermarket or kit data decals.

First is the CAG bird from VFA-136, the Nighthawks. Though not the ultracolorful aircraft of the past, this one does have all of its markings in a nice blue with any letters/numbers outlined in white.

The other aircraft is an F-18C from VMFA-323, the 'Death Rattlers'. It has its usual brown and yellow tail and fuselage band, but is otherwise unremarkable.

Either scheme will look good on your Monogram or Hasegawa 1/48 Hornet.
