Here is yet another sheet for my favourite aircraft, the F-4 Phantom II. Never mind that it is noisy, or ugly, or out of service, it is still my favourite! The first version to see service was the F-4B, which entered fleet service in the early 1960s. Two of the first units to use the F-4B are on this particular sheet; VF-102 and VF-103. VF-102 was also one of the last fleet squadrons to transition from the F-4 Phantom to the F-14 Tomcat.

What makes this sheet interesting is the design of the numbers and letters. It definitely is not the standard lettering that is used by virtually every USN aircraft since after WW2. Both aircraft use some very interesting fonts that is sure to be something a bit different from what is on the shelves.

This sheet provides a stencil guide as well as enough stencils for both subjects. What you will have to get elsewhere are the national insignia as there just isn't room on the sheet. Both aircraft are, of course, in the standard of the day which is gull grey and white.

First aircraft on the sheet is the VF-102 bird. This one has the yellow arrow on the tail that this unit carries to this day, though it may now be toned down quite a bit.

The second bird is more colorful in that it has a red rudder. This is from VF-103 and it has a large diamond on the upper fuselage as well as diamonds on the side.

Here is a shot of one in a slightly different scheme.

Either one will make a very nice model.
