The real workhorse of the USAF in the early years of the Korean war was the F-80C Shooting Star. It was soon obvious that it could not handle the Soviet Mig-15 fighter so was relegated to ground attack in early 1951, once the F-86A Sabre arrived on the scene. From there until replace by F-86F Sabres in 1953, F-80 units were tasked with the incredibly dangerous job of direct troop support.

This particular sheet is for two rather famous F-80Cs.

The first on is 'Kansas Tornado' from the 16th FS from July 1951. It is festooned with 100 mission marks, surely an age for any pilot in combat.

Next is 'The Spirit of Hobo' from the 80th FS in October 1952. This particular aircraft commemorates the 50,000th sortie flown by the USAF during the Korean war. Below is an image of  this sheet used on a kit I built about 15 years ago. As you can see, the old Monogram kit (which is all that is available in 1/48) makes into a very nice model despite its age.

There are enough insignia and data markings to do one of these aircraft.
