This next new sheet is another for the new Trumpeter 1/48 F-100C Super Sabre kit. This time, the unit is the famous 4th Fighter Wing, one of the few that are still plying their trade with fighters today, only this time it is the F-15E Strike Eagle. Most other famous WWII units have either disappeared, are flying something other than the type in which they have become famous or are administrative squadrons. Never been able to figure that one out, but the USAF has squadrons with no planes that fly desks instead.
Anyway, this sheet covers specially marked 333 FDS plane that was involved in a weapons meet during 1959. Somewhere I have a slide that shows one of these birds and I'll post it if I can find it (see below and do NOT use the slide to base colors as the shades have shifted a bit over the years). The aircraft also has red wing tips which will need to be painted by the modeler.
This sheet includes full data markings and insignia. The instructions include a superb data placement guide so you can get the myriad of stencils properly located. One note is that the font for the USAF on the wings and nose should be more rounded as applied by North American. You can see that by looking at the photo below, paying attention to the 'S' on the wing and nose. Most won't notice the different, but Hun fans will spot it right off. Cartograf is now Superscale's default printer and the sheet is superbly done.
