NOTES: |
For Revell/Otaki kit. Alps printed. |
First up is from the 57th FIS, based in Keflavik, Iceland. This unit has the distinction of being the last regular USAF unit to fly the F-102 and it wasn't until the early 1970s that they were traded in for the F-4E. Large 'arctic' markings on wings and fin.
Next is from the 326 FIS at Richard Gebaur AFB near Kansas City in 1957/58. This one has yellow wing tips and may have had a yellow radome.
Finally, from the 329th FIS at George AFB near Victorville, Ca in 1960. This one has a rather unusual serial presentation that is lacking the '0' after the first digit.
This particular sheet is ALPs printed so will require care in handling and in cutting out the various markings. There are enough data markings and insignia to do both aircraft. Instructions are in full color and provide FS 595 references as well as markings placement information.
Those of us who are fans of 1/144 should be glad that Starfighter Decals has taken the time and trouble to provide us with optional markings and they don't charge a fortune for them either. Well worth the cost and I highly recommend visiting them to see what else they offer.
