This particular Sky sheet gives markings for no less than 38 Corsairs! Frankly, if the modeler cannot find something he likes with this sheet, then perhaps it is time to take up knitting! There are Corsairs of every mark that was used in WWII and one from Korea. It includes planes of aces such as Boyington, Walsh, Blackburn, Hedrick, Hollowell and DeLong. These planes were based on Munda, Guadalcanal, Guam, Torokina and Vella Lavella. They are mostly in the tri-color scheme of Sea Blue, Intermediate Blue and White, though the early 'Birdcage' Corsairs are in Blue Grey over Light Grey.
The way that so many planes can be on the sheet, is that for the Marines, often the aircraft carried little more than a number on the side and perhaps some kill markings. As you can see from the image to the right, there are a lot of planes that fall into that category. As with all Sky sheets, this one is printed by Cartograf so you know that you have a quality product.
The instruction booklet gives basically profiles with one overhead shot for insignia placement. A color guide on the back gives FS 595, Humbrol, Molak, Tamiya, Gunze, and Testors paint references. There is also a list of sources from whence the markings were gleaned. A couple of the pages are duplicated at the beginning of the review.
All in all, Sky sheets are probably the best 'bang for the buck' when it comes to aftermarket decals. If you can't find them locally, then they can be obtained from the link below.
